- Alessandro Tarabotti has an Antikythera mechanism, which Gail added in because of her love of underwater archaeology and Ancient Greece. The mention of this device is also one of Gail's cookies (her term for Easter Eggs), for the device is based on the Egyptian calendar (and Alessandro is in Egypt while using it and must have extensive knowledge of that calendar in order to do so) and it predicts the lunar phase and position (necessary when one is fighting werewolves). There is a Stuff You Should Know podcast on the Antikythera mechanism. Alessandro's version may, or may not, be updated to reflect early Victorian knowledge of planets, which would have expanded the device but not changed its effectiveness with regards to the moon.
